Winter Showcase Recaps and Tournament Results
Girls Sanford ECNL Recap:
Armada had four teams representing the club and ECNL Southeastern Conference at Sanford, Florida January 6th-8th. Our Girl’s ECNL program went 4-4-4 for the weekend and exemplified a high level of play during the event while playing some of the strongest teams in the country. 0ur ‘02 team went undefeated winning two games and tying their last match. Our ‘00/’99 team also went undefeated tying all three matches. Our ‘03’s won two games and lost one. Our ‘01’s played well but were unable to earn points at the event.
Armada ECNL program continues to demonstrate why they are the 4th ranked girls club in the country showing consistency and a free-flowing style of play on the pitch. Next up for the program will be our 04’s and 01’s traveling to Houston, Texas for a National event in February. Our 03’s will be participating in a National event in Phoenix, Arizona during April and our 02’s will complete the National event tour in New Jersey in late May. These National events host US National scouts and have hundreds of college coaches in attendance. Many of these same college coaches will be attending our annual Armada ID College Showcase February 24-25 at Patton Park.
Boys Sanford ECNL Recap:
Armada had four teams representing the club and ECNL Southeastern Conference at Sanford, Florida December 31st – January 3rd. Our Boy’s ECNL program went 9-1-2 for the weekend showcasing our program at the highest of levels. The ‘99/’00 Boys team coached by Joey Barrett won all three games at the event. It was an important showcase especially for this team as the Armada players were able to play in front of all the top colleges in the county. The ’01 Boys won two games and lost won, the ’02 team won 2 game and tied one, while the ’03 team won 2 games and tied one. We couldn’t have asked for a better inaugural showcase for our Boys ECNL program.
The Armada Academy 2007 Boys Pre-DA Teams, Team 1 & Team 2, recently participated in the prestigious Disney Boys Soccer Showcase, which was held at the renowned ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in the Disney World Resort area. The Showcase was held from December 27-31 and included teams from around the U.S., as well as some international teams in the older age-groups.
Pre-DA Team 1 played the following teams during group play: United Futbol Academy Premier (Georgia) (2-1 win), Lakeland FC Elite (Florida) (3-1 win), and Space Coast United (Florida) (0-0 draw), and placed 2nd in their group of six, which qualified them for the Finals in the U11 Premiere Black Division. In the Finals, Team 1 lost 3-2 in a close battle to Concorde Fire Central Elite, the #1 ranked team from Georgia. Last October, team 1 won the Championship in the prestigious Orlando City Cup, in the U11 Boys Gold Division. Pre-DA Team 1 is coached by Carlos Manuel (Armada Academy Director), Assisted by Brian Guinta (Gainesville Soccer Alliance Academy Director), and the team is Managed by Amy Schroeder.
Pre-Team 2 played the following teams during group play: Concorde Fire (Georgia), United Futbol Academy - Norcross (Georgia), and Shulz Academy (Florida), and unfortunately were not able to qualify for the Finals. Team 2 is coached by Armante Marshall (Jacksonville University Men's Team Assistant Coach) and the team is Manager is Julie Roberti.
This is the first year of the Boys Pre-DA Program to the Armada Academy, and was created to present a DA-style (Development Academy) high-level training and competitive environment to the select group of players on the two Pre-DA Teams. The two teams participate in several competitive leagues around Florida, including the ECNL, the NPL and the NEFL Premier League. The Armada Youth Academy is the only club in Northeast Florida to have a Boys DA Program, a Boys ECNL (Elite Clubs National League) Program, as well as having a professional player pathway. Brevard Winter Classic:
Congrats to Armada FC 07 Elite South boys and Coach Jeorge Gomez. Winners of the Brevard Winter Classic January 27th and 28th. They went 4-0 for the weekend. They scored 21 goals and allowed none. They beat Indiatlantic 2007 Force Boys Black in the finals 1-0. Great Gob Boys!!
