We are proud Patton Park - Home of Armada FC Youth Academy
Patton Park was named after the Patton family who donated the land in 1993. It is a 120-acre facility that is owned by the City of Jacksonville and leased to the First Coast Soccer Association (now know as Jacksonville FC). The club’s home fields (starting in 1990) were at San Pablo (behind Fletcher Middle School) but as Jacksonville grew and soccer gained popularity, it was identified that more soccer facilities were needed.
FCSA, with the help of City Council, developed the plan for the First Coast Soccer Complex at Patton Park. After much hard work by many First Coast members and city councilmen, a grant from the City of Jacksonville and fundraising efforts, First Coast Soccer played it’s first season at Patton Park in the fall of 2001 with an initial 5 full-sized (fields 1-5) & 2 junior fields (fields 6 & 7). Lights, sidewalks and paved parking were added soon after.
The next phase in the development of Patton Park was to complete the stadium field and 1 more full-sized field (field 8), which were completed in the summer of 2007. Stadium seating for 1000 people was also added. The next year a practice area was built at the front of the complex (fields 10 & 11) and the new field expanded to include a warm-up area (field 9).
With FCSA/JFC continuing to grow soccer in the city and attracting state, regional & national attention, two more full-sized list fields (fields 12 & 13) came online in 2013.
Patton Park currently has 9 full-sized lit fields and 5 junior fields with room to grow. JFC’s contract with the city requires that JFC pay for all of the yearly upkeep & maintenance of the complex, from the grass to the lights to the pavement and in return, the complex is run & managed by JFC. This unique relationship has allowed JFC to grow soccer in Jacksonville and beyond – about 20,000 people make their way in and out of Patton Park each week during the season.
JFC offers a soccer experience for all members of the community at all levels of play, from youth recreational, developmental & travel teams to JFC adult leagues. The US Soccer Boys Developmental Academy (2012) and Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) for girls (2015) provide opportunities for players at the elite level of play. In addition, JFC hosts multiple other events including the annual Labor Day Shootout tournament (since 1992), state, regional & national-level games, college showcases, identification camps, high School & middle school training & games, Down Syndrome Soccer and multiple special events that have included the US Women’s National team, NYCFC MLS team and the Nigerian National team, to name a few.
The newest member at the complex is the Jacksonville Armada, Jacksonville’s professional men’s soccer team. Patton park has been their training facility since August of 2014. The Armada play in the North American Soccer League (NASL) .
JFC’s members, staff & Board of Directors are proud of our continued efforts to grow soccer as well as develop & maintain our beautiful complex at Patton Park.
